August 1, 2005 _______________________________ the constant
process of reinvention
Welcome back.
Welcome in.
Welcome to my coming out party.
This I know is true: I am a writer.
Four Noble Truths for writers:
1. Writers write.
2. Writing is a process.
3. You don't know what your writing will be until the end of the process.*
4. If writing is your practice, the only way to fail is to not write.
( * the process may never end)
let's get to the writing...
the class - Women Writing Autobiography
the project - Interrogation of the Self:
Images and Word
the description - Imagine standing in front of a mirror naked,
then put some spotlights to either side of you.
Open your eyes. Describe what you see.

the constant process of reinvention
Soulsmiles has been a part of my life for four years now, and this is the first
major change it's really gone through (what does it mean?). Yes, I've redesigned
the layout multiple times, but this is a complete refocus away from the everydayness
of my life and more centered on my writing. (I hate saying "my" writing,
as if I own it, when I am using a collective pool of words to convey some meaning.)
But of course, the photography remains, as well as the sharing of music, books,
magazines, websites, and other shit I deem Cool.
Those of you who were on the email update list before will remain unless I'm
informed otherwise. And really, if you don't want to be on the list, it's cool,
just let me know, you won't hurt my feelings. If you've found your way here
outside of the email update list and would like to be added, just let me know.
Always feel free to drop me a line and let me know what you think/feel/love/hate
about anything you ever see here, email: casey@soulsmiles.com.
