Jeez
oh pete, as my sister would say, where have the updates been?! I've been one
busy and incommunicado chica the past week or so. I was house/pet-sitting for
seven solid days with no connection to the internet, thus no updates. And after
that I was oh so tired and needed to catch up on some relaxin and some sleepin.
But I'm back like jack with info for the next two, count 'em TWO, updates! And
now, on with the update...
I have posted
two of my past writings from the old edition of Soulsmiles. I have posted Let's
Dance and At the Beach for your reading enjoyment.I have had some requests for
them so I just thought I'd go ahead and post them, just in case you've missed
my winning humor (hardy har har). They are posted in the archive section under
the heading Past Writings.
Ok, so does
anyone else see the ridiculousness of Arnold Schwarzenegger running for governor
of California? I knew he was a gung-ho Republican but now he's running for office.
I am trying very hard not to take this as a sign of the apocalypse, but with
North Korea threatening nuclear war, Saddam and Osama on the lose, and the country's
obsession with Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck it's kind of hard not to. And
what's even more shocking than the fact that he's running is the goddamn media
coverage this meathead is getting! Ya know, let's celebrate him because he makes
movies for our enjoyment, not because he's taking the celebrity that WE gaive
him and exploiting it for his own gain. His popularity for saying those three
infamous, yet slow-witted, words is going to get him elected governor of freakin
California! If you live in CA, please, DO NOT vote for the Terminator as your
next governor. He's running against Gary fucking Coleman for godsake! THAT should
be your first clue!
I am so damn
happy to know that the stuck-up religious community we have in this country
has allowed a gay priest to become a bishop. My religious beliefs (I'm a raging
agnostic) are well-known amongst my family and friends but I was elated to hear
that in the wake of our homophobe president's remarks on banning gay marriage
that a religious community in THIS country has cast aside societies views and
welcomed the advancement of a gay man. Those Episcopalians, ya gotta love 'em.
Unfortunately this news has increased the ferocity of the Pope's campaign against
us queers, but he'll be dead soon anyway. Perhaps that last comment was inappropriate,
but so is condemning someone for who they love.
