The
gallery of new photos I promised you is up and ready for your enjoyment. Again,
this gallery project is called Around the House in One Hour. I have posted Gallery
I today and will post Gallery II on the next update. The idea for this came
when I was looking through the other galleries and noticed that most of them
were of nature; green, flowers, trees, etc. So I went around my house again,
this time looking for mechanical objects that had some beauty in them. The result
is these galleries, so have a look.
Ah yes, the VMA's.
I couldn't let an update pass without speaking of them. Being of the Mtv generation
I would say it's my duty to watch this spectacle year after year, and I have
ever since I can remember. The point is to see what craziness is going to go
down, and who's behind it. For instance, the Madonna/Britney/X-tina performance
was off the hook for the sole reason that those three were performing together.
Madonna is like the queen to those two pop princesses. They are trying to copy
her career in ways like controversy and longevity. But back to the VMA's. I
was ecstatic when Coldplay walked away with three. They are probably the most
deserving of their awards because what they do, their music, is truly art. 50
Cent and Eminem got nothin' on Coldplay. And I also gotta give props to Missy
Eliot who walked away with her first two moonmen. The video for "Work It"
was something spectacular and much deserving of it's acclaim. After all's been
said and done the VMA's will continue to be chalked up as one of the most important,
yet wildly overblown, nights in the music industry. And I will continue to watch
till I get to the point where I don't understand the music anymore, when I say
things like, "They just don't make music like they used to." or "Those
crazy kids and their loud music."
I have recently
discovered the wonder and joy of comic books. The Borders I frequent has just
started carrying comic books and I picked up Elektra and I love it.
Now that's my kind of reading! Quick, with awesome pictures. I also picked up
the CSI:
Serial graphic novel" which follows my favorite crimesolving crew
on the trail of a serial killer. It's really quite awesome. I went to Borders
today and picked up the new Justice League of America and New Mutants
comic books, as well as another graphic novel called Alias
(it's not about the show, but is about a female private investigator who kicks
ass). Graphic novels are pretty much the same thing as comic books except they
are like a few comics all in one book, at least that's my understanding. I read
comics as a kid, but not the cool ones, unless Archie is cool. I read
A LOT of Archie comics. I would buy them and read them in like half an hour,
then take them to the bathroom and read them everytime I took a dump. Maybe
that's why reading on the toilet is so productive for me?
This is a big
THANK YOU and a WHAT'S UP to my sister's good friend Lauren, who is now officially
in my good graces for checking out the site and being enthused for new updates!
Also, HI Gretchen!
I will be going
back to school on Wednesday and I fear the updates will become less frequent,
so consider this fair warning. I will try for a couple of updates per week cause
I'm sure there will be people at OU I will just need to bitch about, so look
forward to my "bitchy OU people" updates. Until next time...
