The Women's World Cup has made it's way back to the United States due to the SARS outbreak in China, the original host country. You may remember the '99 World Cup in which the US won in a shootout against China. The drama and skill of world play is upon us again with this years tournament, which begins September 20th. The first US game is September 21st against Sweden, so be sure to check your local listings for that! For more information and a complete schedule of games check out the Fifa Women's World Cup USA 2003 website (link). If you've never been into soccer before then this is the perfect opportunity for you to check it out. The womens game is much more graceful and tactical than the mens game, which gets chippy easily with the overabundance of male ego.

What exactly is a Bachelor of General Studies?
From what I'm hearing through the grapevine most people don't understand what my major is all about, or they nod their head in agreement giving me the illusion they understand. So here it is...the Bachelor of General Studies is a self-designed interdisiplanary major in which I choose the concentration. By taking a look at my amalgamation of classes I've accumulated over the past five years you can see that there is no singular focus. And with the Bachelor of General Studies degree I can take all those classes, count them towards this major, and take any combination of classes I choose from here on out. The Bachelor of General Studies does not mean I am undeclared. It just means I can get a college degree without having to have chosen a discipline. Ah yes, the more important question of why haven't I ever chosen a discipline. To me, choosing a major is like choosing a future, of deciding which path my life is going to take at a point in my life when I am ill-prepared to make that decision. Some people, most people, know exactly where their life is headed. They know where they'll be in ten years, five years, ONE year. But I have no clue. I have never been able to see myself in the future. When I was a child I said I wanted to be an architect just so I would have something to say when people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. Saying I wanted to be a bus driver was never taken seriously, so I picked something a little more user-friendly. So this Bachelor of General Studies major suits me perfectly because I can say I have a major, without really having ever picked anything.

I received an email forward last week that I just had to post on the site. It's too funny not to share with others. My family, friends, and I discuss poop in an honest and informal manner, not that there is a formal way persay, but if you've ever had to do ya bidness at work then this will be hysterical to you. So I present to you: How To Poop At Work (link).
