I have discovered my second greatest female crush in the beauty of one Carla Gugino, otherwise known as Karen Sisco. I've been a big fan of hers for awhile. I saw her in this independent film about a rape victim once upon another lonely evening and I was thoroughly impressed. She was also in The One with Jet Li, and of course she's the mom from Spy Kids, a smokin' one at that. She is now being (hopefully) launched into stardom with her new drama, Karen Sisco on ABC, Wednesdays at 10. The premiere episode was this past Wednesday and it's really good. Like a combination of tough action lady Alias and the hipness of CSI: Miami because the show is set in Miami. The show is based on the Elmore Leonard novel Out of Sight, perhaps you've seen the movie with the little known Jennifer Lopez. As you know, I am a huge Black Eyed Peas fan, and being such it is my duty to bring you the latest, coolest, hippest news and updates about the band. Therefore, I bring you their latest video for the song, "Shutup." It's up at Launch.com (link). And I gotta say that Fergie is "oh...my...god...HOT!" Regardless of your sexual orientation, if you dig the Peas then you'll like this video. They approach all of their endeavors from an artistic standpoint, so you know it won't be cliche' like all other "hip-hop" videos with the fancy cars and heinously enormous jewelry. And oh that Fergie!

I'm not one to go around recommending books because, quite frankly, I don't read that much. But I have come across a book that I must share with my Soulsmiles peeps. Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs (yes, Cocoa Puffs) by Chuck Klosterman is a hilariously intelligent book of observations of our modern-day pop culture. I've only read the first three essays and so far he's written about the Sims, The Real World and Billy Joel. And it's clear and mostly understandable, and the best part is it'll make you laugh right out loud wherever you are. Check out Amazon.com for reviews (link).
