Brothers
this most troubling age I am missing in them
that awkward transition into the beginning of adulthood
the era of consequence
shaking loose the cobwebs long forgotten in adolescence
and then dealing with the spiders
the poisoning of questioning identity
the bite of sex and heartache
we call them young men and dismiss their violence
punish their sensitivity while expecting them to romance themselves a wife
these young men raised on the digital image of "female"
airbrushed pictures of all tits and no brain
misogynist pricks riding the steady current of rage flowing in their veins
my brothers, young men on the very tip of adulthood
at this most troubling age
