change
it seems to be a season of change
this winter/spring threshold
some of us are moving to new cities
some of us are working new jobs
some of us are trying on new genders
[you are not forgotten,
ever.]
some of these changes have been sought
and all
will be fought
because change is disruptive
even when it’s wanted
even when all you
need
is change
change - a phenomenon of existence
like guilt
an out of control emotion
spilling like the river Jordan
from that Good book
taught in a world of opposites
I want to read the Evil book
feel its cold spine in my hands
just to further believe
in goodness
try to live it - this goodness
try to smell it taste it
beauty on the tip of my tongue
fighting for expression
in competition with rage
and anger doesn’t play fair
a lying, cheating swindler
with charm and a smooth smile
beauty is the underdog
rotation has slowed
and I’m getting a look at details
catching still images
with definition
rather than outlines
rage is quick to guess
but beauty uses context as brushstrokes
rage can be beautiful
when it’s understood
which requires a magnifying glass
and fearless questions motivated by the lacking fear
that’s where it goes
necessitating wanting an answer
or rather
wanting an answer you already know
(You taught me that recently.)
questions with no answers
should end in a period
asked as thought guides
in our attempt at fearlessness
but a mind without fear lacks thought
because rage IS beauty
