the tiptoe stomp of a disabled elephant
stumbling into the bright light future
appeasing and apologizing
flailing and fighting
dressed in a tutu
a disgrace to the uniform
being made a circus spectacle
distracting the distracted into laughter
but hungry
hungry for approval by affection
