FREE SKY
ocean air on my skin like a blanket
exposed to the free sky
a sky I’ve only felt crushed by
in the past
in days as close as yesterday
I look her in the eye
squint from her shine
breath enters me
satiates me
fills lungs with salty space
she is wrapped around my body
I am wrapped around her mind
in this earthly pool wrapped around us.
soft sand beneath floating feet
ripples on the surface
three at a time
one
two
three
the invisible moon of daylight leaving its mark
giving the sun its space to radiate
no pictures were taken
no pictures could do justice
could complete in a rectangle frame
these images in my mind.
we pierced the snapshot
gave it dimension
beyond flat
beyond gloss.
our movement was the image
because we are not still, stationary individuals
moving fluid
floating grace
shifting ground with every wave.
