Sand Dunes and Love
jumping into the ray of your golden beamed gaze
got that headache from holding my breath too long
red faced, panting, and hoping you'll notice
an invisible wind in the desert
but my impression leaves formations
rolling sand dunes as tall as mountains
take a step back and feel my impact, my beauty
sand grains through your hands falling away into the day
softly melting into a calm breeze
wait long enough for peripheral vision to weigh in
a twinkle in the corner of your eye
a ray of sunlight reflecting off glass
you're standing on a dune that promises an exhausting climb or a quick descent
I want you to be hoping for the climb because you've seen past surviving the
fall
vague forethought and gut instinct only guides
you're tucking this time in preparation for a graceful landing
of course you've done this before
of course it's going to hurt
