The body
she will leave and come back to you multiple times through the course of a life
turn on you
curve on you
bend and sag on you
carry you
warm you
hold you and decompose you
your mind is her gatekeeper
standing defiant and ill-equipped
I have just survived a barrage
enemy intruders storming their disintegrating violence on the brain
the body's mainframe
the mind goes dark
loses power and enters her defensive stance
these defenses turn offensive when left to their own devices
healing begins after the realization of the altered body
growth coming with changes we cannot control
modifications to the body the mind just came to understand
a time of peace, of rest
but the body,
she will leave and come back to you multiple times through the course of a life.
